60 Seconds with Service Delivery Manager, Adam Gorton

No two days are ever the same here at Fabric which is something I love

Adam Gorton, Service Delivery Manager, Fabric

1. What is your role at Fabric?

My role at Fabric is to ensure that the team here are giving the best customer service possible to our customers.
This involves working with the team to ensure training is given where needed but also working with customers to check if there are things we can improve on.

2. What brought you to Fabric, and how did you get here?

I’ve always had an interest in computing which started when I built my PC when I was 12. I then went to university to study Computer Animation and Special effects.
After graduating from university, I worked in a couple of high schools where I progressed to Network Manager and gained some great experience.
I then came for an interview at what was then Delta Comtech and spoke to the directors here about the vision for the business moving forward and it was something that I really wanted to get involved with and I’ve not looked back since.

3. What does an average day look like?

My average day can differ dependant on if any incidents need looking at as a priority. I will check this first and then discuss with the team about the day and check workloads with the service desk.
I can then spend time looking at escalations from the staff members or helping the team with tickets and training.

4. What do you enjoy most about working at Fabric?

There are two main things I enjoy about working at Fabric, firstly is the interaction with the team and the customers. I love speaking to people and working together to get an issue resolved.
I also enjoy the fact that we are supported here to make decisions that help to improve the business if we feel we can improve something we are encouraged to pass these ideas on. This goes for me but also for the team I manage, and I like to try and encourage looking at things from a different angle.

5. What is your best Fabric memory?

Having the opportunity to go away with our colleagues on the Summer Event was a fantastic team bonding exercise, and I enjoyed interacting with different areas of the team than I do daily.
I also have enjoyed situations where we have come together as a team to resolve an issue. When we all work together, the results are fantastic.

6. How has Fabric supported your career?

Fabric is an excellent company to work for when it comes to supporting my career. I started here as a Service Desk Engineer and have progressed through different positions to now arrive at Service Delivery Manager.
I have been given training along the way to help me both with the technical side and the managerial aspect. Also having a support team of the directors and other peers has been extremely helpful for advice along the way.

7. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Most of my time outside of work is spent with the family. I have two children, so it is spending time with them.
I am a big fan of sports, so I do spend a lot of time watching or playing various things. I also currently manage an under-seven football team which is very rewarding.
I also enjoy going out to watch movies or live music as well, so after all this, there isn’t much time left for anything else!
