Occasionally, you’re thrown into a situation where you only have one device on your person, your mobile! Just over a decade ago this would have been extremely limiting, leaving you with just phone and text.
When the iPhone launched in 2007, it kickstarted a colossal revolution in technology, with many companies having a mobile-first development strategy just a few years later.
Fast forward to today and its considered ‘old fashioned’ for a company not to have mobile access to their platforms.
In 2014, Microsoft changed to a ‘Mobile first, Cloud first’ strategy. This meant that Microsoft’s priority was mobile applications accessing cloud services.
Searching for Microsoft on the App Store, Play Store or Microsoft Store will present you with an extensive collection of apps covering most of Microsoft’s offerings.
A few of the standout apps are:

Example scenarios:
- You open the Outlook app, and you see an email about a document you forgot to send to a colleague, you open the SharePoint app, choose the document which opens in the Word app. You make a couple of changes and share a link to the document with your colleague.
- You open the SharePoint app and open an Excel workbook that you and a colleague are collaborating on. Both of you can work on the workbook at the same time, seeing each other’s changes in real-time despite your colleague working at their desktop PC and you working on your mobile.
- You’re in the Teams app working with colleagues on a project. Someone in Teams suggests a great idea that you want to log. You go to the teams OneNote section and add the suggestion to the Team notebook.
There are many ways you can work with Microsoft apps.
