How to choose the best laptop that works for accounting jobs.

When it comes to accounting and finance, the type and scope of a required laptop can vary significantly. This all depends on the amount of data needing to be processed and handled.

There are four main elements in selecting a laptop which will be suitable for accounting. These are the processor, display, RAM and keyboard.

Have you decided that a new laptop is the best option for you? Take a look at my colleague’s blog on how to know when you should replace your computer.

Laptops for accounting

1. The Latest Generation Processor

Firstly, the processor, this is essentially the brains of the computer. I recommend going for the latest generation of processing technology as this will allow a smoother and easier overall user experience.

2. HD Display and Anti-glare to Prevent Eye Strain

Secondly, the display of the laptop; this can be vital from an accounting point of view as having a clear and extensive view of all data is crucial to ensure any mistakes are corrected. I recommend full HD (1920×1080) display screens. These screens should also have anti-glare capabilities to ensure that no eye strain occurs while a user is working.

3. Enough RAM to Cope With the Data

Another critical component is RAM; 8GB of RAM is needed for smooth working capabilities on a laptop. This allows users to be able to monitor multiple spreadsheets or databases at the same time, without any issues.

4. Comfortable Laptop Keyboard

Finally, the keyboard; this must be comfortable and user-friendly due to the amount of data input tasks.

For a more generous budget, I would recommend the Dell XPS 13. It’s a highly powerful laptop which is also lightweight; perfect for meetings or working on the go. The Dell XPS 13 is a top-end business laptop and also comes with the price tag.

For a cheaper option, I recommend the Lenovo IdeaPad 330. It’s more affordable and still packs a punch. It’s suitable for all accounting purposes.
